CryEngine 3 CEO Cevat Yerli wants to prove a point and has openly said in an interview with Venturebeat that CryEgine 3 already did what The Unreal Engine 4 does three years ago. In other words it’s a next-gen engine. He also revealed that they are working on the next iteration of the engine which probably won’t be numbered Game.
CryEngine 3 CEO mentioned Crysis 2 as the game that showcased what CryEngine 3 was capable of, with Direct X11 features which was added later to the game via a patch.
“already said CryEngine 3 is next-gen ready since three years ago,” CEO said.
“CryEngine 3 already exists for three years now. You can go back three years ago to theGDC videos. What we put out there is pretty much what Unreal Engine 4 put out now. And what many others are doing now too. We haven’t really put out our latest stuff yet.
“If I look at what people call next-gen technology now, it’s what we were seeing three years ago now. already had massive particle systems, we already had GPU rendering, all these things. Deferred shading. We had tessellation already since we shipped game Crysis 2. We already had DX11. Game didn’t just talk it up as tech demos, we have games that are shipped and are doing it Next week.”

CryEngine 3 was not showcased at E3 and PC with a fancy tech demo, but I wonder if game is feeling the pressure now considering how low the media coverage has been for them games.
